Portrait of a Game I, II and III provides an alternative view of the game of football. A view that unveils the tactical components of the game, and which shows the dramatic and beautiful patterns and shapes that the movements of the players and the ball create during a match. These geometric shapes reflect the teams’ overall strategies, their relative strengths and weaknesses, and the roles and responsibilities of individual players. The images are based on analysis of event data collected from 3 different matches, and the trilogy demonstrates differences in team form and compactness, frequency of crosses, and shots on goal.
