The inspiration for this piece was the X-ray of the human thorax showing the grand architecture of the human skeleton. The thorax and the thoracic spine are beautiful examples of the grand designs resulting from biological evolution, and we each carry within us this powerful and flexible architecture as a cathedral for our vital organs and nerves. The artwork combines collage of data tables, graphs, and images from medical imaging research, with painting, sketching, and writing of symbols, figures, text, and mathematical formulas relevant to the physics of the X-ray imaging technique.
