The genus Homo series is a visual art presentation of the evolution of the modern human. Starting with Homo habilis in east Africa 2.5 million years ago, each piece in this series paints a SciArt portrait of these early humans by combining drawing of their characteristic facial features against a backdrop of their typical natural environment, with scientifically derived knowledge about the era in which they existed, their physical stature, key fossils, brain size, geographical spread and migration patterns, tools and technologies, culture, types of shelter, etc.
