SciArt
Soren’s SciArt is curiosity-driven storytelling using art and science.
It explores topics, objects, and phenomena by combining traditional visual art techniques with the language of science in the form of numbers, equations, graphs, and diagrams. The blend of art and science creates symbiosis and harmony and result in a powerful and captivating artistic expression inviting you to explore the artwork in a way that triggers your curiosity and joy of discovery.
The World Cup Project
The World Cup Project is a project to create visual art portraits of the World Cup – the quadrennial world championship tournament for the game of soccer (association football). The idea is to use visual art to tell the story of each World Cup from the inaugural tournament in 1930 up till today.
Soccer
The exhibition Football in 5 Dimensions uses visual art to illuminate and communicate the complexity, beauty, and drama that drives and maintains the unique popularity of the game of association football (soccer). The exhibition looks at soccer through an artistic and scientific lens, and the works express Soren’s lifelong passions and experiences in art, soccer, science and education, and depict the game with elements from its historical, human, tactical, logical and other scientific dimensions.
Human evolution
The genus Homo series is a visual art presentation of the evolution of the modern human. Starting with Homo habilis in east Africa 2.5 million years ago, each piece in this series paints a SciArt portrait of these early humans by combining drawing of their characteristic facial features against a backdrop of their typical natural environment, with scientifically derived knowledge about the era in which they existed, their physical stature, key fossils, brain size, geographical spread and migration patterns, tools and technologies, culture, types of shelter, etc.
Rowing
This SciArt series portray both the simple beauty and fascinating complexity of the sport of rowing. From the striking architecture and dynamics of the crew-shell-oar system, and the craftsmen who build them, to the dramatic scene of a competitive single scull rower in action. The series was commissioned to celebrate the participation of Danish olympic rowers in the 2019 Head of the Charles regatta in Boston/Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
Radiology
The Radiology series examines the wonders of modern medical imaging and the underlying science. The series was inspired by the dramatic, complex, and detailed pictures from inside the human body, made possible by modern radiology techniques. The individual artwork makes a connection to the object depicted by combining collage of tables, figures, and images from radiology journals, with painting and drawing, and writing of symbols, figures, mathematical and chemical formulas relevant to the imaging technique portrayed.
