The Coronal Brain was inspired by the computerized tomography (CT) brain scan in the coronal (front/back) view. It emphasizes the intricate pattern of the cerebral cortex, the outermost layer of the brain that is associated with our highest mental capabilities, and the brain stem, while presenting the formulas for chemical compounds relevant to the workings of the brain in the right and left hemispheres. The artwork combines collage of tables, figures, and images from radiology journals, with painting and drawing, and writing of symbols, and figures.
