The Historical Ball displays a spherical ball-like shape, woven from the outlines of the panel-shapes and designs from and on the official World Cup and European Championships match balls from 1930–2021. The picture is a sentimental celebration of the soccer balls generations of girls and boys have played with throughout their lives, as well as a look at the fundamental mathematical geometries of convex polyhedra underlying the design and the construction of those balls. The artwork is mixed-media on canvas and measures 127cm x 127cm (50” x 50”).
